> Refractory Solutions / Steel / Glendon
Glendon is a heat exchanger to pre-heat the air that will be blown by the nozzles of the Blast Furnace driven by charcoal, with a maximum productive volume of 350 m³.
It basically consists of:
• An internal combustion chamber;
• Blown air temperature: 800ºC.
The main requirements of the refractory linings are:
• Thermal shock resistance;
• Volume stability.
Development of specific solutions
With the objective of providing safe and economical refractory performance for all customers, Magnesita’s Technical Support and Services Department develops technical solutions via specific process studies, computer simulations, and slag practice recommendations. The Technical Support team also provides refractory engineering and assembly supervision.
A specific refractory project action plan is developed for each operational plant, increasing equipment availability and refractory performance.
Furthermore, the Research Center carries out the development of new products and post mortem studies.
Shaped and unshaped refractory products
Magnesita produces a variety of shaped and unshaped refractory products for use in Glendons, in the following classes:
• Silica-alumina;
• Alumina.
